Whisper Cymru was responsible for providing a range of engaging content to rugby fans at home. The content would be delivered to various commercial partners, rights holders, broadcast partners and key stakeholders, and distributed across a range of The Lions and SA Rugby owned channels, including TV and social media.

Based on these requirements, and having been introduced to Pixitmedia by a mutual connection, Whisper chose the Cardiff-based team to be part of the workflow.

Previously relying on time-consuming LTO backups, NBCUniversal faced challenges in ensuring reliable access to content across multiple Avid workgroups during outages. In 2017, the organization implemented solutions from Pixitmedia with the aim of reducing media management time and improving efficiency.

Pixitmedia’s Object Matrix, Interconnect, and Vision, integrated seamlessly to deliver scalability and cost-savings. With an initial deployment of 480TB and subsequent expansions to over 2.1PB, NBCUniversal achieved resilient, secure content access and global availability.

In use today through our parent company DataCore, Swarm Storage was adopted by NEP close to a decade ago to store copies of hundreds of thousands of files of varying sizes which, when not cached, must be streamed directly to end user devices. Internal benchmarks at NEP have shown that their multi-PB capacity with more than 200 active nodes is capable of delivering sufficient throughput that has made the Swarm cluster a key component in the delivery of the high-end quality service that NEP has always aimed for.

The system, even though large and critical for NEP’s business, does not require a full-time Storage Administrator—another major cost saving.
